Kit Fisto VS Eeth Koth

MARTIAL ARTS
Jedi master Kit Fisto, unlike most Jedi, still practiced Form one, even when he achieved mastery. Taking the relatively simple form to its greatest extent, Fisto created a form that in effect was a randomized and wild martial arts hurricane. Although Form one was known for its weakness in one on one combat, Fisto managed to at least partially circumvent this, being one of the very few Jedi to put the fearsome Grievous on his back foot, although to be fair, Fisto was wielding two blades against a Grievous who only had three. Despite his impressive display against Grievous, Fisto remained hampered by Form ones limitations, directly leading to his defeats at the hands of Sidious and Ventress, although Fisto performed much better against the latter during the battle of Khorm. All in all, not the best member of Windus personal squad, but certainly a powerful duelist.

Eeth Koth is one of the few Jedi Council members whose official Lightsaber form has never been reviled. However, regardless of what form he actually uses, Eeth Koth was a skilled sword master. He was responsible for the training of Sharad Hett (who was basically and earlier version of Anakin Skywalker), took part in many sparring matches in the Jedi temple. and managed to hold his own against the fearsome Grievous, even while wounded. However, if he did have a weakness, it was at blast deflection, as that is why he was wounded in the first place. However, this was obviously a minor problem for him at best, as his mastery of the Lightsaber was directly given as a reason for Koth surviving the battle of Geonosis. At least one source also pegs him as having practical knowledge of saber staffs.

A extremely tough call in the first category. Fisto has a lot more experience in serious lightsaber duels, but Koth is certainly not a novice in this arena. In a similar vane, Koths apparent weakness in blast deflection does not play a part here, as he has no such weakness with a blade, holding of Grievous's incredible assault. The same can not be said for Fisto, who has, unlike other Form one masters such as Lucien Draay and the Hero of Tython, never really compensated for its weakness in one on one situations. Although Koth is not a better martial artist, he is close enough in terms of skill that I think he would be able to exploit Fistos weakness, if only just. I give Eeth Koth a very slight edge in martial arts.

SUPERNATURAL POWERS
Jedi Master Fisto is, in my opinion, one of the most powerful force sensitives of the Clone wars era. In his home environment, Fisto had almost complete control over  water currents, was able to sense his enemies  movements and, most impressively, he created a water orb powerful enough to destroy what was effectively a capital ship. Sadly, this skill did not translate well onto land, where Fisto had little more than the standard Jedi level augmentation, telekinesis and telepathy. Its not that Fisto isn't powerful (far from it), its just that most of his battles dont take place under water. I should pit him against master Cilghal.

Eeth Koth, on the surface, was a fairly standard Jedi in terms of force powers, displaying reasonable levels with self augmentation and telekinesis. However, Koth had an ace up his sleeve in the form of mental pain tolerance. Zabraks, unlike species such as Weequay, were not actually any physically tougher then other sentient races, instead being able to take a lot more punishment because of extreme mental discipline Using the force, Koth was able to go above and beyond the norm for his race with the rare ability known as Crucitorn and a ridiculous amount of mental discipline. All in all, although it was mostly passive, Koth did have a good deal of capability with the Force.

Fisto is heavily specialized towards sub aquatic use of the force, and Koth is heavily specialized towards mental discipline. on the battlefield and the dueling arena however, there is very little difference between these two, as they have both displayed a similar level of strength with combative application I declare them equals in supernatural powers, although Koths pain tolerance will show up here again.

PHYSICAL SKILLS
Kit Fisto was a male Nautolan roughly in the prime of his life. Due to the rigorous level of Jedi training and martial arts, Fisto was much faster and stronger then normal sentients. As A Nautolan, Fisto was amphibious and could breathe in both water and land. In addition, Fistos species naturally produced pheromones that allowed them to sense others presence and movements.

As previously mentioned, Eeth Koth was a male Zabrak with a incredible amount of physical endurance. The best example was his battle against Grievous: Koth is shot through the hand by a blaster, goes head to head with the fearsome cyborg and takes six full power Magnaguard hits. In short, only tanks such as Malgus and Vader can truly claim to be tougher than Koth.

I really do want to give Fisto the physical edge one of these day. Nautolans are a very interesting species with some interesting characteristics. However, I just can't do that in good faith: Eeth Koth is a physical powerhouse of ridiculous level, capable of taking much MUCH more damage then almost any other Jedi of the age. Koth gets the physical skills edge.

WEAPONS & EQUIPMENT
Kit Fisto wielded a standard green bladed lightsaber with a ridged hand grip best suited for wielding in a fast, one handed style. Fisto was also proficient in the use of dual blades, a skill he likely learned from his good friend, Aayla Secura (or vice verse).

Although he is almost always depicted as wielding a standard green bladed Jedi lightsaber, the Clone Wars Adventures MMO showed him wielding a saberstaff. However, there is a very real precedent for Jedi wielding double bladed lightsabers in sparring matches, but not actual combat.

Although these two are skilled in dual wielding/saberstaffs (respectively), they are not generally in possession of such equipment. As such, they are both left with standard Jedi Lightsabers, making it a tie in weapons and equipment.

THE VERDICT
Kit Fisto almost always gets the short end of the stick in versus videos for one reason: it's simply not what he is best at. Fisto chose to specialize in his home environment and battling multiple enemies not one on one combat. Although this does mean he is likely to lose most battle like this, it in no way means he is weaker: he has just chosen to excel in a different area. On the subject of this match up, I don't actually think Eeth Koth is better than Fisto, he is actually pretty much on the same tier level. However, a battle between these two would play out with Fisto submersing himself in Form one and launching into a hurricane against Koth's defense. However, since Koth was able to hold Grievous's fearsome assault off while wounded, I have no doubt he will be able to do the same here. Since these two are very comparable  in there power with the force, this basically turns it into a waiting game: Which one of these two will tire and break first? I think we can all guess. Fisto is by no means a weakling, but Koth simply takes physical endurance to a whole new level. A battle between these two would be long and hard fought, but Fisto would eventually be unable to keep his attack up, giving Koth the chance to end the duel in one fatal swoop. I declare Eeth Koth the winner.

  1. Disagree. Fisto has never been proven beyond reasonable doubt to be bad in 1 on 1 engagements, and because he mastered form 1 to a degree unrecognisable and almost unheard of in his time, it imo makes the likelihood that kit can handle a duel with any one force user like him all the more concrete. When you master a form, that means something. That means you’re no longer a student, you’ve passed, you’re professionally accomplished at it and the use of it in engagements and can incorporate it in a wide range of scenarios. If you’re not only a master but THE MASTER of a form, like fisto is, then you have perfected the form ten fold, and you’re an academic.. a teacher with a nuanced perspective and next to no weaknesses to speak of.
When fisto lost to ventress on ord cestus, he was weakened first and offbalanced. But fisto surpassed grievous later and with practiced ease, when he was level headed and strong. Really koth in the same engagement should have been capable of the same, but he was shot in the arm because his style was flawed.. more flawed than you think fisto’s is. And really, the fact you bring up how impressive it is that he kept pace with gg- the fact he has the crucitorn pain resistance ability takes the shine off it, and makes his defeat more a mark against him.. because to not boost back up to full strength after injury to best gg and simple magnaguards, makes his apparent pain resistance abilities or his use of them moot, compared to fisto in the same scenario with his natural abilities.
Eeth koth while great in most other respects with his speed, stamina and durability, does not have fisto’s physiological gifts.. fisto can sense chemical changes, can read emotions, is suited for more environments, and is stronger physically with greater muscle mass, height, cartilage and he is a student of jar’kai and unarmed combat.
