Doctor Who what if: The Master had regenerated?
It is over. For one dreadful year The Master has ruled the Earth under an iron grip. But now that grip has broken and time has been reversed. However, before the Doctor can take him away to the Tardis Lucy Saxon, the Masters former wife, shots him. The Doctor pleads with him to regenerate, but the Master proclaims he has finally won before dying, leaving the Doctor alone once again. However, that is the main universe in a massive multiverse: with an infinite amount of possibilities, this scenario is not always the case. With a grunt, the Master bursts into golden energy, sending the Doctor flying. When he recovers, the Doctor sees a tall man with black hair where the Master had been (he looks suspiciously like Sherlock Holmes). The Master has regenerated. The Doctor sadly bids Martha and Jack behind, imprisons the Master in the Tardis with a "regeneration link" that he can use to force him to change and departs in the time vortex, planning to watch over his fellow time lord for eternity. Yeah right, its the Doctor, hes not going to just stay still. After two decades of mind numbing boredom, the Doctor is fed up with exploring every inch of his ship and listening to Khan (I mean the Master) angrily ranting at him. Luckily for the Doctor, this is abruptly broken when the Titanic crashes into his Tardis. Jumping at the chance, the Doctor leaves the Master aboard the Tardis (warning him that the Tardis is in control of the regeneration link) and departs on an adventure aboard the Tardis. This voyage of the dammed continues as in the prime universe, except for the crucial difference of Astrid Peth surviving. However, with the most dangerous Time lord in history aboard his ship, the Doctor is forced to leave her behind. A similar thing happens when he runs into Donna Nobel again while investigating a signal from the Adipose. This trend continues throughout the next couple years of the Doctors adventures. Repeatedly, the Doctor is forced to leave potential companions because of his responsibilities towards guarding the Master. On the other hand, the Doctor and Master begin resolving there hatred and remembering there friendship, with the Doctor even letting a holoimage of the Master come with him on an adventure with Sontarans on contemporary Earth. Shortly after this, the Doctor finally finds a new companion: With the Tardis taking him to Messaline, where the Doctor meets Jenny, his cloned daughter. Being mostly Timelord herself, the Doctor takes her with him aboard the Tardis, although he does his best to limit her contact with the rouge Timelord. Together, the three Time lords continued to travel the universe, finding such things as a Vashta Nerada infested library and the Doctors future wife. However, things come crashing to an end when the Daleks return and the Masters regeneration link is broken, allowing him to escape. However, to everybody's amazement, the Master returns and helps the children of time defeat Davros and his empire. Afterwards, the three time lords continued to travel together with the Master being allowed a much greater degree of freedom, although the Doctor still kept an eye on his more brutal aspects. Eventually, the Master accidentally reveals that he hasn't heard the sound of drums since being brought back from Yana. The Doctor, unable to find a reason for this, eventually discovers it is an act of his own doing. While on a solo mission, the Doctor runs into a future version of himself, the situation eventually spiraling out of con troll to the point all 13 Doctors end up working together. Taking the initiative, the Doctor leaves a message with his Eighth incarnation. Many years later and during the height of the Time war, The war Doctor tampers with the resurrection of the Master, removing the drum beat from his head (although due to the parodxy end of the time war removes the memory from both of them). Thus, hundreds of years in the future, a much less insane Master and Jenny watch the Doctor sacrifice himself to stop Rassilon from escaping the Time wars and regenerate into his eleventh (well, twelfth. Actually, to be completely accurate, thirteenth, but whos counting?) body. Eventually reuniting with his future wife, The Doctor, Master, Jenny and River song are well placed to return the Time lords to the universe.
